NAD – The Norwegian Association of Disabled is an independent human rights and advocacy organization of and for persons with disabilities established in Oslo, Norway in 1931 and with 9 regional offices and 10 national associations focusing on different diagnostic groups. NAD has a registered office in Uganda. NAD’S vision is a diverse society where people with disabilities have the same opportunities as others to live in line with their own desires, abilities and interests, and to fully contribute and participate.
NAD works primarily on advocacy, but also offers a strong sense of community for its approximately 14,000 members through projects promoting inclusive development.
Internationally. NAD works with sister Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs), Governments and authorities in several countries, contributing to the global movement for equal rights for all. Today we are in Palestine, Uganda, Zanzibar, Zambia and will soon start working in Somalia. NAD projects cover four (4) thematic areas: Human Rights Advocacy, Inclusive Education, Inclusive Economic Empowerment and Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction
In Uganda, NAD collaborates with the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU). National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) and Stromme Foundation to implement the Economic Empowerment Project; targeting male and female persons with disabilities including youth and caregivers of persons/children with disabilities
NAD is seeking to recruit two (2) suitably qualified, self-driven, innovative Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the vacant position of Economic Empowerment Program Assistant on a three (3) years contract; renewal based on availability of funding and satisfactory performance. The duty station is Kampala, with regular travels to project areas in the countryside. The successful candidate is expected to start work immediately .
Job Summary:
• The Economic Empowerment Program Assistants will be part of the team that will lead, document lessons learnt, build partners capacities, provide technical support, mentoring of project teams, monitor and evaluate sustainability processes in the project.
• They will be responsible for providing programmatic and coordination support to District Project Teams spread across the project.
• They will provide backup to the project teams to conduct districts specific activities, supporting them attain set targets, manage partnerships, and strengthen implementation frameworks at community and local government level in liaison with disability leadership structures, private sector and government offices
• They will support project team building and champion leadership and mentorship in disability inclusion in the districts of operation.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Social Work, Microfinance, Project Management or any related field from recognized institution
• Experience with community livelihood/microfinance projects plus working among vulnerable groups
• Ability to analyze and manage large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.
• Proven working experience of at least three (3) years in Similar or related field.
• Strong knowledge of project management
• Strong leadership and decision making skills and excellent team building and mentorship skills
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to write good reports and facilitate trainings
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
