The National Association of Women’s Organizations in Uganda (NAWOU) is an umbrella of Women-founded and women-led organizations at District, regional and national level. NAWOU exists to promote the growth of a strong women’s movement and to harness the collectiveness, intellect, experiences and voice of women, their organisations and networks to promote gender equality NAWOU in partnership with the UN Women and with financial support from the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls is embarking on a 18 month project that seeks to create a strong and inclusive women’s movement to advance Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) and advocate for ending Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), including Sexual Gender Based Vi0‘ence (SGBV)/ Harmful Practices (HP) and promoting Sexual Reproductive Health Rights.
