The Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Betty Nambooze Bakireke has undergone a successful knee surgery and is to come back to Uganda in two weeks.
“After undergoing all the medical procedures including fixing back the screw, looking for the veins that had disappeared and now the knee surgery, I am feeling much better, though with pain,” MP Nambooze who was speaking with difficulty in a WhatsApp audio recording from India said.(Daily monitor, July 27, 2018)
According to the doctors Manipal Hospital India where Nambooze has undergone numerous surgeries, the two weeks will allow the cartilage that she had lost in the knee after the bone marrow aspirations to build up.
The honorable commended all the members of parliament who stood their grounds against the age limit amendment Bill and everyone who supported her since last year when she got the injured.
“I am on my way to recovery…and I still call for your prayers and hopeful that we shall return and start from where we stopped because; the struggle for democracy and human rights, rule of law and constitutionalism in Uganda is still on and we need many people to join us,” Ms Nambooze added.(Daily Monitor, July 27, 2018)
However, sources reveal that Nambooze has only received part of the UGsh38million that she needed for the Knee surgery from Parliament.
